Tips for a Great Session:

  1. Avoid coffee and all caffeine.
  2. Eat lightly --nothing too heavy.
  3. Decide if you want a specific area worked on or a full body session, or better yet, allow time for both.
  4. Speak up about your preferences in pressure and technique.
  5. A warm bath or shower is a great way to prepare your muscles for the session and is a courtesy to me.
  6. Relax, this is a non-sexual, therapeutic massage.

In the Hours After Your Massage:

  1. Drink extra water, especially with lemon or lime squeezed into it. Not only does this aid in flushing the toxins stirred up from the work, but helps to reduce soreness and fatigue after a massage.
  2. You may feel the need for rest afterwards, so try to schedule in a nap or go to bed early.
  3. Simply walking, without a purse or backpack, is a great way for the body to “process” the massage to help re-train the muscles.
  4. Getting in a hot tub before bedtime with Epsom or Dead Sea Salts to aid in reducing soreness and toxins.
  5. If the focus of your massage was on a specific injury or body part, remember to apply heat, or ice or stretch as instructed.
